How to attract hits to your site

As a blogger for money, you need to know how to attract hits to your site. The more traffic that comes into your blog, the higher your PageRank. The one main thing that can attract a lot of hits is your title of your posts. You want to think like the person running the search in Google, how they would phrase a query. For example if I want to know about good buffets in Cerritos. I would type “good buffets Cerritos”. If you title your post that you blog will come out as the one of the top results. Wording is key.

Another good way to attract traffic is to talk about current deals or sales. People see advertisements on the television and hear it on the radio, and they go to the web to look into it more. So if you get a flyer in the mail with a good promotion or sale on it, post it on your blog.

How much is a shorter commute worth?

Being in L.A. there is constant traffic on the freeway. For some of us, the higher paying job is not where we live, we have to commute an hour to an hour and a half each way on the freeway. This can add 3 hours to your work day just sitting in traffic. If you do the math, say you make $30 an hour x 15 hrs in traffic per week = $450. $450 x 52 weeks in a year = $23,400. That is a lot of money huh? You add that with the additional stress and the lesser amount of time you get to spend at home, it adds up even more.

It is something to think about the next time you are searching for a job. The one 1.5 hour away is offering more money than the one next to your house, but you have to think about how much more they have to offer for you to consider the longer drive. You just have to do the math yourself and find out which one benefits you the most. Of course there are other intangibles besides money, you have to consider too. So think it out before you consider a job that has a longer commute.

Earn money with your prescriptions

How many of you go to the doctor regularly? Especially if you have kids like us, they get sick and we have to go to the pharmacy to get a prescription. With the competition out there among the pharmacies, many are offering gift cards if you open up or transfer a prescription with them. We have collected several gift cards while getting regular prescriptions for Brandon

These offers can be found in the adverstisement section of your Sunday paper. The most popular one is with CVS. They offer a $30 gift card for any new prescription you open with them, even if you already have an account with them, you can still get the gift card. I like it there because there are many locations here in Southern California. They opened up a lot of new stores, and they took over the old Sav-on stores too. They also have good weekly deals. And don’t forget to sign up for the ExtraCare card too, you get additional savings. It is free to sign up.

Other chains that offer similar promotions are Rite-Aid, Albertsons/Sav-ons, Vons, Ralphs, Target. So check your Sunday paper before you go fill your next prescription.

“2Click Casino Top” - Junk Spam Site

Do not go to this site, I won’t even bother putting their link. I will just give you the name alone. But all they do is send spam to your comments section. It is a casino site that links you to other similar sites (probably because they got paid from them).

I am thinking of installing a spam blocker for my comment section to avoid posts like these. I am also getting others like that too, but not as bad as this one. They will post around 20 different comments on my posts telling people to go to their site.

Their are no contact info on this site, so you cannot even contact them. All I can do is put the word out on them. Do not go to their site!!!

Donate your car

It is the end of the year, and one way to get more deductions when you do your income taxes next year is to donate things. We alway make a year end stop at the Salvation Army or Goodwill to donate our old clothes.

One quick way to add to your deductions is to donate your old car. We were seriously thinking about that when we bought our Camry. We had my old Honda Accord that no one was driving sitting out on the driveway. We still had to pay insurance and registration on it, since it was still active. Donating will give the car to someone needy as well as giving you a tax break.

Before you use to deduct the Kelly Blue Book amount of the car, but they disallowed that because the government caught on to people just doing this for tax deduction purposes, so now you can only deduct the amount the car sells for. The donation agency will send you a receipt of how much the car sells for after you donated it. So if you have an old clunker sitting in your driveway, dripping motor oil all over your floor, consider donating and making someone’s holiday a little bit more special.

What is the term Black Friday?

I have been talking about a lot of the sales on Black Friday last month, but a lot of the people do not know what the term means. In addition a lot of readers are not in the United States and do not celebrate Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is a national holiday here in the United States. It falls on the 4th Thursday of November. The friday after that is also a floating holiday. It is the day Christmas holiday shopping officially begins.

The term Black Friday is more of an accounting term. Black meaning a positive (profit). Many retailers are in the red most of the year, meaning they still have not earned money yet. It is not until Black Friday, their books change the other way and they start earning a profit.

But for the consumers like us, we try to find the best possible deals out there. Usually on that friday you can find the best sales of the year. A lot of people say the after Christmas sales are good too, but for those sales you are basically buying up the leftover Christmas stuff that no one wants.

When is it the time to pass up a customer?

In real estate, you have to know when is the time to pass up a customer asking to help you buy or sell a house. You do not want them to be wasting your time. I know it sounds mean, but you have to consider things…

For example, a house on my street has been on the market over 6 months. The agent has an open house almost every weekend, but no buyers. He or she has practically wasted all this time and still may not get the sale if no one buys it. As an agent, we do not get paid until escrow closes. No money is paid up front by the seller (or buyer). As an smart agent he should of saw the condition of the house and the market and passed on the customer.

The condition of the house is old. They did repaint it, but they picked a bad choice of color, orange. You do not see too many orange houses around. This is probably one big turn off to many potential buyers in a slow market. As an agent, he should of adviced in a more neutral or earthy color. There are things agents must realize before taking on certain customers.

Save money on your cell phone

For the people who do not talk too much on their cellphones, it may be a good idea to switch to a pay as you go phone. Even the cheaper plans will run you about $40-$45 dollars a month. Times that by 12, and it is $540 for the year. For me I just purchase a pay as you go phone for about $100 (prices range from $50 up), and a $100 calling card. You can buy these cards for about $90 online. With that you get 1000 minutes. That is more than enough minutes for me. If you buy $100, the minutes do not expire for a year.

When it does expire and if you still have for example 400 minutes, all you need to do is buy a $10 card and the 400 minutes rollover to the next year. So if you are not a big cell phone user, this is perfect for you. I just use my phones for emergencies and quick calls only.
